Kazan Federal University has begun preparations for the 21st International Linguistic Congress (ICL 21) in 2023. One of the preparatory stages for the main world scientific forum of linguists in Kazan will be the Kazan International Linguistic Summit “Challenges and Trends in World Linguistics” (hereinafter – the Summit), which will be held online on November 16-20, 2020 and will be held online. The summit is timed to the 175th anniversary of the founder of the Kazan linguistic school I.A. Baudouin de Courtenay and the 145th anniversary of the beginning of his work at Kazan University.
The summit will be held in an online format and will become a platform for discussing the latest trends in linguistics, challenges linguists and teachers-linguists faced in recent months. It will be hosted on the Microsoft Teams platform and will include both synchronous and asynchronous events, which will be recorded and made publicly available on the official Summit YouTube channel. Among them are virtual reports of key speakers, round tables, international online symposia, meetings of research groups, scientific sections, poster presentations, etc.
The Summit is organized by the Kazan Federal University, the Institute of Linguistics and the Institute of Linguistic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The leading partners of the Summit are the Russian Society of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (ROPRYAL) and the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL). The co-chairman of Scientific Committee of the Summit is the Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on Cultural Affairs, Chairman of the Council for the Russian Language under the President of the Russian Federation, President of MAPRYAL, President of ROPRYAL V.I. Tolstoy.
