On July 21, 2020, the International Webinar “Effects of Prolonged Lockdown under COVID 19 on Education System” was held by the Partap College of Education, Punjab University (India, Ludhiana) and the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Kazan Federal University (Russia, Kazan) with the support of the International Professional Development Association (UK).
The idea of the webinar was to unite the efforts of the world pedagogical community in solving problems of pandemic impact and life restrictions caused by it on the education system.
Director of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of the Kazan Federal University (IFMK KFU) R.R. Zamaletdinov and Director of the Pedagogical College Partap B. Singh made welcoming speeches.
Radif Rifkatovich Zamaletdinov in his speech stressed that this webinar is one of the joint international projects implemented by Partap Pedagogical College (India) and the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University (Russia). In February 2020 in Ludhiana (India) – two institutes organized and held an international conference “Cross-cultural and multicultural perspectives in the professional development of teachers”. Topics of the conference covered important scientific problems that are in the center of scientists’ attention of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication. It confirms the fact that our scientific interests intersect. That the conference was a great success.
R.R. Zamaletdinov pointed out that webinar was devoted to a very important topic. Participants could discuss how COVID-19 had affected the educational systems of both countries, as well as the problems and prospects of distance learning in higher education institutions. One more important question was risen – how to provide all teachers and students with 100% access to a virtual learning environment. Participants had a very fruitful discussion on how to organize an online admissions campaign and entrance tests based on the Microsoft Teams platform and many others.
More than one hundred scientists and researchers from India, Spain, Italy and Russia took part in the webinar. The webinar was held on the ZOOM platform. All participants of the webinar noted its excellent organization. The topics of speeches allowed to organize a fruitful discussion on a wide range of issues related to the general topic of the webinar.
R.R. Zamaletdinov invited all participants of the webinar to Kazan Federal University – to take part in the 21st International Linguistic Congress (ICL 21) in 2023, as well as in the Kazan International Linguistic Summit “Challenges and Trends in World Linguistics” on November 16-20, 2020.
We thank the organizers of the webinar and hope that common projects with our Indian colleagues will contribute to the development of both institutions. There is no doubt that both sides benefit from this cooperation!
